The Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians (ACSEP) seeks an exceptional leader to serve as Chief Executive Officer during a pivotal period of growth and opportunity. Following landmark success with Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) item number endorsement and recent achievements in advocacy and education, ACSEP is positioned to strengthen its role as the pre-eminent authority in Sport and Exercise Medicine across Australia and New Zealand.
As the professional body dedicated to setting and maintaining standards of excellence in the practice of sport and exercise medicine, ACSEP’s mission is to advance evidence-based practice and ensure the highest standards of care for patients engaging in physical activity. Our vision is to provide world's best practice for training, standards and research in the speciality of Sport and Exercise Medicine.
Reporting to an engaged Board, the Chief Executive Officer will lead a small talented and committed team to deliver education, training, advocacy, and member services across diverse stakeholder groups. The CEO will provide effective, hands-on leadership to implement ACSEP's strategic plan, drive financial sustainability, and oversee College operations. The CEO will bring high emotional intelligence and will empower creative people through a culture of inclusivity, excellence and organisational accountability and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
To be considered, you'll need proven leadership experience in healthcare, medical education, or professional membership organisations, and bring a strong track record of driving organisational growth and financial sustainability. We're seeking someone with exceptional stakeholder engagement skills who can elevate ACSEP's profile across medical, government and sporting communities and build collaborative relationships that advance members' interests.
Essential capabilities include:
• strategic leadership and revenue generation skills with experience in membership-based organisations;
• strong advocacy and government relations experience;
• advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to provide high-quality strategic advice;
• contemporary organisational management skills with proven ability to build a high-performance team culture;
• deep knowledge of governance, compliance and regulatory requirements (Australian Medical Council, Medical Council of NZ preferred);
• sophisticated communication skills and commercial acumen for business development; and
• commitment to workplace diversity, inclusion and collaborative practices.
