Established in 1854, Melbourne City Mission (MCM) is one of Victoria’s oldest, largest and most diverse ‘for-purpose’ community service organisations with a vision to create a fair and just community where people have equitable access to opportunities and resources. 

Today, the MCM Group, comprising MCM Services, Hester Hornbrook Academy, and MCM Housing work together to disrupt disadvantage and create positive change for Victoria’s most vulnerable individuals, by helping people and communities develop their own pathways away from disadvantage so that those they support achieve their future, their way.

With a strong balance sheet, a highly skilled Board and with exciting plans to grow and innovate for greater impact, MCM would like to invite applications from suitably qualified candidates with aligned values to join their Board and contribute to the organisation’s strategic direction and governance.

MCM are seeking to appoint three new Directors to the MCM Group Board and have identified the following priority skill/experience areas to complement the existing skills mix of the current Board Directors:

  • Strategic Financial Management (ideally CA/CPA Professional Membership)
  • Digital Service Delivery
  • Innovation/growth strategist
  • Sectoral strategist/thought leader/well networked

In addition, applicants should possess some of the following skills and/or experience:

  • High level conceptual and strategic thinking skills
  • Financial literacy
  • An understanding of the NFP/community services sector governance
  • Willingness to contribute independent thought/ideas
  • Collaborative working style
  • Governance education (e.g. AICD course) and/or past experience on public, private or community Boards is desirable (not essential)
