Carers Victoria is seeking an exceptional Board Chair to lead our organisation during an exciting period of transformation and growth. With unpaid carers expected to number over one million Victorians in the near future, this is a unique opportunity to champion a cause that touches the lives of thousands and lead a well-governed, financially sound organisation.

About Carers Victoria

As the statewide peak body for unpaid carers, we represent approximately 750,000 Victorians who provide care to family members, friends and others with disabilities, chronic illnesses, mental health conditions, or age-related needs. With an annual turnover of $10 million and around 60 staff, we deliver direct support services while advocating for systemic change to improve unpaid carers' lives.

This is a chance to:

• Lead a values-driven organisation with sound financial reserves and strong governance
• Elevate the profile of unpaid carers across Victoria through your established networks
• Guide our strategic direction as we modernise our services and expand our reach
• Work with a collaborative Board and an engaged CEO to drive meaningful change

You are an influential leader with:

• An established public profile and extensive networks to help raise awareness of unpaid carers
• Strong governance experience and strategic leadership capabilities
• A collaborative and facilitative leadership style
• Commercial acumen and experience in regulated environments
• Values that align with our commitment to unpaid carers and caring

Time Commitment

• 6 regular Board meetings annually (virtual, 3 hours each)
• Annual strategic planning session (in-person, CBD)
• AGM and committee participation
• Occasional stakeholder and government meetings
