Executive People & Culture

  • Lead people strategy for a national for-purpose organisation
  • Executive seat with genuine influence, reporting to the CEO

The organisation

Outlook Australia is a registered charity with a clear vision: an inclusive society for all. Through its Community Services division it supports people with a disability across Victoria and New South Wales, and through its Social Enterprise division it runs commercial resource recovery operations across Victoria and Queensland where more than 77% of the workforce come from disadvantaged backgrounds. With around 430 staff across 45 locations, Outlook is pursuing a bold strategy: a tenfold increase in impact by 2030.

The opportunity

Reporting to the CEO and sitting on the Executive, you will lead Outlook’s people strategy, workforce capability, workplace health and safety, and employee and industrial relations. You will develop the People & Culture strategy, uplift leadership capability across middle management, develop a well-established and enthusiastic team of six, and set the tone for change as Outlook scales. The CEO wants a trusted adviser: discreet, frank and confident enough to challenge and push back.

About you

  • A senior P&C leader. Significant senior or executive experience across workforce strategy, employee and industrial relations, organisational development and WHS governance.
  • Strategic and hands-on. Comfortable at the Executive and Board table, and willing to roll your sleeves up when the moment requires it.
  • A change and capability builder. Proven strategic planning, team development and change leadership, with practical diversity, equity and inclusion outcomes.
  • A trusted adviser. The discretion, judgement and confidence to counsel and challenge a CEO.

Why this role

This is a role where the work has a visible impact. Outlook offers an Executive seat with genuine influence and autonomy, a CEO who wants a trusted adviser rather than an administrator, and a values-driven organisation whose social enterprises turn commercial success into careers for people who face barriers to work. As Outlook scales toward its 2030 goal of a tenfold increase in impact, the People & Culture function will grow with it: the incoming Executive shapes the function, the team and the culture of a genuinely national organisation.
