Board Director (up to 3 positions)
Mambourin Enterprises Ltd — Melbourne's Western Suburbs
Help shape the future of disability services for one of Victoria's most enduring for-purpose organisations
About Mambourin
For more than 50 years, Mambourin Enterprises Ltd has been empowering people with a disability to live the life they choose. Based in Melbourne's western suburbs, Mambourin delivers a broad range of support services — from community hubs and supported employment to traineeships and individualised care — to hundreds of participants across the region.
With income of approximately $28 million, a strong balance sheet, significant property portfolio and a recent strategic acquisition, Mambourin is a financially sound organisation with clear growth ambitions. Its Board–CEO relationship is strong, its committees are active and high-functioning, and its culture reflects a genuine commitment to the people it serves.
The Opportunity
Mambourin is seeking up to three new Board Directors to join a skilled, collaborative board at a genuinely interesting moment — an organisation that is customer focused, profitable, growing, and committed to getting governance right.
These are voluntary positions for candidates who want to contribute meaningfully to an organisation with real impact in their community. New Directors will have the opportunity to rotate through the Board's three committees and will be supported in their governance development, including consideration of AICD training where appropriate.
What We're Looking For
The Board is building a complementary cohort and welcomes applications from candidates with depth in one or more of the following areas:
- Finance, audit and risk — CPA/CA qualified, with board-level financial oversight experience
- Quality, safeguarding and governance— understanding of NDIS Practice Standards, service quality systems, and disability or community services governance
- Government relations and policy — knowledge of NDIS funding frameworks, government stakeholder engagement, or disability policy
- Board leadership— prior non-executive director experience, particularly in not-for-profit or community services organisations
- Disability sector and NDIS or Aged Care— operational understanding of disability services; lived experience of disability will be highly regarded
All Directors should bring strong governance instincts, strategic thinking, and a genuine commitment to Mambourin's mission.
Diversity
Mambourin's board is actively seeking to broaden its diversity to reflect the community that it serves. Applications are warmly encouraged from people from diverse backgrounds, people with lived experience of disability, and candidates with a connection to Melbourne's western suburbs.
