The Department of Police, Fire and Emergency Management (DPFEM) is responsible for the delivery of quality policing, fire, and emergency management services in Tasmania. Comprised of Tasmania Police, the Tasmania Fire Service, the State Emergency Service, Forensic Science Service Tasmania, and Business and Executive Services, the Department is responsible to the Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Management.
Reporting to the Secretary, this position is a key member of the Agency Management Group and head of Business and Executive Services. The purpose of this role is to provide high level strategic and authoritative advice, options and recommendations to the Secretary and Government on matters including critical business issues, build organisational capability and agility, and deliver strong leadership and good governance. The role is responsible for providing effective finance, technology and people services to the operational arms of DPFEM.
To succeed in this role, you will have proven leadership capability, with extensive experience leading a service-oriented Departmental division providing business and executive services. In particular, you will have strong budget, financial management and technology skills and the ability to build a ‘one-service’ culture and fit for purpose operating model.
With a good knowledge and understanding of legislative processes, government machinery and industrial relations, you’ll have developed sophisticated interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills and a proven ability to build enduring and effective stakeholder relationships.
The position is based in Hobart.
