Renew Australia is a national, not-for-profit organisation that inspires, enables and advocates for people to live sustainably in their homes and communities. Established in 1980, Renew provides expert, independent advice on sustainable solutions for the home to households, government and industry.  They have helped thousands of households save money and reduce their environmental footprint with information on energy efficiency, solar power, rainwater tanks, materials reuse and waste.

This position leads a team of analysts and advocates, including a number of volunteers that provide expert advice on a range of sustainability issues including energy efficiency, electricity market regulation, architecture and design, renewable energy, climate policy, water conservation and sustainable transport. The position is a key member of a dynamic and innovative leadership team driving policy and regulation reform whilst assisting households achieve better outcomes through practical advice and action. This role combines research, policy and advocacy work, stakeholder engagement as well as identifying and securing funding opportunities from multiple sources and enough flexibility and autonomy to make a genuine impact.

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced, strategic, authentic and pragmatic sustainability leader, who has a good knowledge and understanding of this sector and the changes required that will have an impact at the individual and/or household level. Ideally, you’ll have had policy development experience in a related sector such as transport, energy, or water and a good understanding of the machinery of government and industry drivers and an ability to influence and affect change within both contexts. You will have a strong values alignment to Renew and its strategic objectives and be able to operate in a sometimes complex, ambiguous and dynamic work environment. As a leader you will be inclusive, collaborative and credible, able to communicate with influence, inspiring confidence in the team and relevant stakeholder groups, including potential members and funding partners. Key to your success will be your entrepreneurial and innovative spirit, and ability to identify, capitalise and deliver on the opportunities to grow, advocate and influence for impact.
