In Australia, their work focuses on the Outback, including work with many Indigenous Traditional Owner groups; the Oceans, comprising an extensive shellfish reef building program and the southern Murray-Darling Basin, involving innovative water funds and property management.

TNC has become a global leader in conservation finance, working with banks and impact investors to unlock capital in the interests of restorative and environmental conservation projects. A newly created role within TNC, the Conservation Finance Specialist works closely with the Conservation team internally as well as global TNC stakeholders to bring sophisticated business, financial, and economic analysis to the design and implementation of The Nature Conservancy Australia’s conservation priorities and strategic initiatives. The role will be responsible for driving positive outcomes by providing expert analysis on new and innovative sources of finance, alongside government and philanthropic funding.

To be considered you will be experienced in working with different financial instruments and business structures including environmental markets, impact investing, impact bonds as well as traditional debt and equity approaches. In this role you’ll get the opportunity to step up, broaden your skillset and take the lead in an organisation that is truly making a difference to environmental conservation. The business is agile, progressive and dynamic, so you will need to be comfortable in making decisions and providing sound, timely, and accurate advice .

You will be ambitious, commercially savvy and motivated by making an impact. The work will be hands on so you need to be someone that is entrepreneurially minded but also ok with rolling up your sleeves. The successful candidate will possess first class communication skills, a positive approach, and enjoy working as part of a flat structure team. You will be great at seeing the big picture and being able to figure out how to best get there. You will be highly numerate, have sound judgement and have exceptional attention to detail.
