Chief Executive - Public Health Services

Salary: $158,989 to $182,839 pro rata, per annum, plus superannuation

Fixed Term – 5 Years

 Duties: The Chief Executive - Public Health Services is a senior executive responsible for strategic leadership and direction to support the delivery of quality services across Public Health Services. The position provides high-level advice to Government and the Departmental Executive regarding public health matters, service reform and the direction, development, and enhancement of public health-related services applicable to the needs of the community.

The CE reports to the Deputy Secretary, Community, Mental Health and Wellbeing and works closely with the Director of Public Health to achieve agreed service and performance outcomes. This position works closely with the Health Executive to support the Tasmanian Government’s objective to provide an integrated and sustainable health system, including effective Governance, planning, and effective measurement and evaluation of health services.

To be successful you will have a deep understanding of and proven leadership experience within the health system and demonstrate a track record of successfully driving performance improvement and reform. You’ll apply strategic foresight and rigour to system planning and effective in representation and promotion of the portfolio across the health sector to relevant stakeholders. Your style is collaborative and inclusive and as a leader you will support and develop people to build capability in your team. Naturally, your values will be aligned to that of the Department, and you will possess a high degree of self-awareness, personal drive and integrity that appreciates the context of the cultural environment and the responses required. You will relish the opportunity to work in a context that is complex and at times ambiguous, bringing a pragmatic approach to decision-making.
