Manager, Primary Care

This newly created position is responsible for leading a small team focused upon the implementation and evaluation of NWMPHN’s Primary Health Care Improvement Strategy (Strategy). The role will have a specific focus of working within the region, using a quality improvement framework to build capacity in general practice.

The team works collaboratively with other teams in the PHN to identify and drive a consistent approach to the implementation of the Continuous Improvement of the Strategy. Building a high performing team that can develop strong internal and external relationships will be critical to ensuring that stakeholders will have confidence in the team’s ability to respond to sectoral challenges and opportunities in an effective way.

This position will shape and manage day to day activities that will focus on developing strong relationships and relevant networks supporting quality improvement in general practice and ensuring that key issues are identified, prioritised and aligned to the broader NWMPHN strategies and work plans.

To be successful in this challenging position you will be a self-starter, with drive and energy that will inspire others into action. You will have a passion for health reform, ideally with some experience in primary health  care and/or program leadership. You will have good knowledge of the primary health care sector.

Ideally with tertiary qualifications (or relevant experience) in quality, health services management or a related field, you’ll be collaborative and consultative yet decisive, and value transparency and accountability. Naturally, you will be a skilled communicator, adept at managing change and influencing others. You’ll have a sound knowledge and strong skills in the successful application of quality improvement methodologies in either a primary health or general practice setting.
