Manager, Primary Health Care

This newly created position is responsible for leading a small team focused upon the implementation and evaluation of NWMPHN’s Primary Health Care Improvement Strategy (Strategy). Reporting to the Director, Primary Health Care Improvement this role will focus upon supporting primary health care providers to deliver high quality care framework to build capacity, driving implementation of quality initiatives, health reforms and improvement. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, coordinating and monitoring all activities relating to implementation of the Primary Healthcare Improvement Strategy and Workforce Development.
  • Ensuring primary health care providers are engaged in a manner reflecting the Strategy and NWMPHN primary health care stakeholder engagement framework.

The team works collaboratively with other teams in the PHN to identify and drive a consistent approach to the implementation of Quality Improvement and Workforce Development. Building a high performing team to develop strong internal and external relationships will be critical to ensuring that stakeholders will have confidence in the team’s ability to respond to sectoral challenges and opportunities in an effective way.

This position will shape and manage day to day activities that will focus on developing strong sectoral relationships and relevant networks, identify and prioritise workforce issues, and support the adoption of adult learning principles to develop and deliver education to build capacity and capability of primary health care providers to improve quality and safety. Key to your success will be your ability to develop a sector-wide, coordinated approach to workforce capability and capacity.

To be successful in this challenging position you will be a self-starter, with drive and energy that will inspire others into action. You will have a passion for health reform, ideally with some experience in primary health care and/or program leadership. You will have good knowledge of the primary health care sector.

Ideally with tertiary qualifications (or relevant experience) in quality, health services management or a related field, you’ll be collaborative and consultative yet decisive, and value transparency and accountability. Naturally, you will be a skilled communicator, adept at managing change and influencing others. You’ll have a sound knowledge and strong skills in the successful application of quality improvement methodologies in either a primary health or general practice setting.
