Based in Bathurst NSW, the Greyhound Welfare and Integrity Commission is an independent statutory body responsible for the supervision and regulation of the NSW greyhound racing industry. Its role is to uphold high animal welfare standards, oversee the integrity of greyhound racing, and monitor and enforce compliance with its regulations.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Commission in its start-up phase. The successful candidate will recruit and build their team, leading from the front to develop and implement the Commission’s strategic direction and culture.
This role provides an outstanding opportunity for highly capable, self-motivated professionals interested in making a significant contribution to animal health and welfare, and the integrity of the Greyhound Racing Industry.
This role reports directly to the Chief Commissioner.
About the role: CHIEF VETERINARY OFFICER
The Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) is the expert on animal welfare within the Commission. The CVO will be a results-driven veterinary specialist with a passion for building high performance teams, and focused on delivering the highest caliber of animal health and welfare programs.
A key part of the role will be to build and enhance relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including peak bodies, animal welfare advocates and the wider community. You’ll also be responsible for overseeing the provision of greyhound racing veterinary services whilst driving continuous improvement in animal health and welfare programs. As the CVO you will provide expert advice to the Chief Commissioner, Commissioners and leadership team.
