The City of Launceston is Tasmania’s largest council, providing services and facilities to a population of 67,000 within a municipality of 1,400 square kilometres. The Council is successfully pursuing its strategic goals, supporting the city’s transition into a regional city for the future and facilitating major investment and development. The Inveresk Precinct, activated by the exciting University of Tasmania Inner City campus and North Bank developments, represent just some of the projects set to transform Launceston.
You will lead a diverse portfolio and provide counsel to the General Manager, Aldermen, Directors and other key stakeholders on a range of strategic, financial, technology, and people & culture matters. The Directorate provides essential services to every part of the Council, in an organisation employing a large and truly multifaceted workforce, across a range of facilities and assets. By providing insightful leadership and working collaboratively across the organisation, the Director will ensure the Council has the right strategic settings and is well positioned to the meet the opportunities ahead for Launceston.
To help shape the City’s future, you must possess extensive corporate services senior leadership experience gained in a large and complex Government organisation (or similar). You may be an experienced functional leader wishing to broaden your remit, or already leading a broad portfolio; the key to success in this role will be your ability to think and act strategically and to provide effective leadership across this diverse portfolio.
